| Notes: |
According to some sources, Henry was born as early as 1300. |
Henry was one of the original Knights of the Garter. |
In 1351, King Edward III raised the status of Henry's county of Lancaster, making him the Earl Palatinate. This grant was for life, and thus expired in 1361. It allowed Henry to appoint his own justices, and maintain his own exchequer. These vast powers were regranted to his son-in-law John of Gaunt after his death. |
Henry was the second Duke created in England. |
Died of the plague. |
