30 January 2010 : Subscriptions

In order to help cover the costs of hosting this web site, the length of the FREE trial subscription has been reduced from 365 to 30 days, except for academic users (with a ".ac" or ".edu" e-mail address) who will get 360 days.

16 March 2008 : Ancestors and Descendants

Lists of ancestors and descendants are now available from each person's Biography page.

10 February 2008 : Lines of Succession

We are pleased to announce a new Line of Succession feature, which enables you to see who was in the line of succession to the throne on any date since the reigns of Egbert (in England) and Kenneth I (in Scotland). Also, a note has been added to the biographies of the first 100 people in the current line of succession.

The lists are generated by a computer program. It would be impractical to check the results for every day during the past thousand years or more, but we are in the process of checking particular dates of interest, such as the day before each monarch's reign ended. Should you happen to spot an error, we would therefore be grateful to hear about it: please send us the details via the Feedback page.

26 December 2007 : Kinship Calculator

Regular visitors may have noticed a slight problem with the Kinship Calculator when analysing a distant relationship having many lines of descent. However, we are pleased to report that the program has now been changed to perform such long calculations "in the background", and to display the progress of its calculations on request. The longest calculation we have done so far took about 40 minutes, and found more than 20,000 different lines of descent from Rollo (Norse conqueror of Normandy) to Prince William of Wales.

23 October 2004 : Family Trees & Royal Blood

We are pleased to announce the introduction of a Family Tree feature, which can display up to 5 generations on a single web page. To try it out, click the "View Family Tree" link which now appears near the top of every Biography page (or click here for an example, showing Queen Elizabeth II's family tree).

We have also introduced a "Royal Blood" value on every person's Biography page, which represents the proportion of English/Scottish royal blood inherited by that person. See the Concepts page for more information.

18 September 2004 : Subscriptions

Unlimited access to the RoyaList Online web site has been available free of charge since it was launched in January 2002. However, in order to cover the running costs and fund further development, we have now reluctantly converted to a subscription-based site.

When you register you will automatically receive a FREE trial subscription lasting for 365 days. Thereafter, standard subscriptions are available as shown below (prices in UK pounds sterling). All payments must be made via the PayPal system: by transfer from a PayPal account, or by credit card or other payment methods available at PayPal.

3 months : GBP 3.00
1 year : GBP 10.00

Please note that academic users (with a ".ac" or ".edu" e-mail address) are not subject to the subscription charge, and will automatically receive a FREE extended subscription.

You may renew your subscription at any time. The selected period will be added to the later of the current system date and your current expiry date.
